NUTRI-SERVE FOOD MANAGEMENT, INC.

New Feature: See below for new updates from your Cafeteria!

Dear Parents/Guardians,

Nutri-Serve looks forward to serving your children another year of nutritious, tasty and appetizing meals.  We are committed to following the very specific guidelines set forth by the School Nutrition Association and the Bureau of Child Nutrition.  These guidelines encourage consumption of fresh fruits and vegetables, low fat milk and whole grains and limit the amount of sugar and fat consumed during lunch.

Service

The Offer vs. Serve method is in place in Tabernacle. Students have the option to choose all five components of lunch which include bread, protein, fruit, vegetable, and milk, or they have the option to decline one or two components.  Under the Offer vs. Serve program, they are required to take a minimum of three components.

Selection

Ala carte items will be available  daily and vary from day to day.  The following are some of the available items.

  • Ice cream $1.00
  • Chips/Popcorn $1.00
  • Bottled Water $.50
  • Milk $.55

Flexibility in Payment

The Tabernacle Price this year is $2.35 at the Elementary School and $2.55 at the Middle School.  Reduced lunch price remains $.40 for eligible students.  Parents/Guardians may pre-pay student lunches by personal check or cash.  Checks should be made payable to the Tabernacle Cafeteria.  Please place all payments in an envelope with your students' name, grade and homeroom teacher and the amount enclosed.

Charges

In the event your child forgets lunch or their lunch money, he/she will be permitted to charge lunch.  All charged lunches are expected to be paid the following day.  Parents' cooperation in paying all lunch charges in an efficient manner will be greatly appreciated.

New Point of Sale System! (2011-2012 School Year)

This year we are excited to introduce a new computerized point-of-sale system instead of cash registers.  Students can pay daily or prepay.  Payments can be any amount and the money would be available for lunch or snacks.  The students will each have a pin number to access their account.

Parents can monitor their student purchases and fund balances.  Parents may recieve a detailed summary of activity of their student's accounts at anytime.

New proposed Dietary Guidelines from the NJDA

Nutri Serve Food Management at the Tabernacle School District would like to get a jump start and begin following the new guidelines for the school year 2011-12.

Some of these requirements are as follows:

  • The milk offered must be 1% or less fat content
  • Dark green or orange veggies offered 3x a week
  • Cooked beans or legumes 1x a week
  • Whole grains 3x a week
Food Allergies

Students with food allergies must have a current doctor's note on file with the school nurse.  Upon notification of a specific food allergy, we will work in partnership with the parent and the school nurse to provide alternatives.

Thank you for your cooperation and assistance.  If you have any questions or concerns please contact me at 609-268-0153 ext. 1027 or via email.

Sincerely,

Maria Baran
